Position Summary :
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Affinity Neurocare supports high-quality patient care and the daily operations of a fast-paced outpatient neurology practice. This position blends clinical and administrative responsibilities, including insurance verification, patient check-in / check-out, medication refill processing, referral management, EEG setup assistance, and support for neurology-specific procedures. The CMA is expected to work collaboratively with providers and staff and assist with various tasks as needed to maintain clinic efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities :
Clinical Duties :
- Greet and room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, and chief complaints in the EMR.
- Assist with neurology procedures such as migraine and trigger point injections under supervision a needed
- Mix medications in accordance with safety protocols.
- Prepare patients for EEG procedures using the 1020 Electrode Placement System; apply and secure electrodes, monitor signals, and document findings.
- Respond promptly to patient discomfort or urgent clinical concerns.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and stocked environment in exam rooms and procedure areas.
Administrative Duties :
Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accurate data entry and professional interaction.Verify insurance benefits, obtain pre-authorizations for treatments, diagnostics, and medications, and manage referral submissions.Call in prescription refills to pharmacies per provider instruction and document all communication.Communicate clearly with patients regarding balances, authorizations, and required documents.Other duties as neededOperational Support :
Participate in rotating Saturday clinics as part of the clinics extended care commitment.Manage and track referrals and prior authorizations to ensure timely patient care.Maintain clear, timely communication with patients regarding their medication refills, appointment changes, or required paperwork.Collaborate with internal and external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.Assist with preparing materials or logistics for patient education, office audits, or provider travel coordination.Leadership & Training :
Support onboarding and training of new CMAs and front office staff.Foster a culture of collaboration, service, and excellence within the clinical and administrative teams.Qualifications :
At least 2 years of clinical experience.Strong knowledge of insurance processes, pre-authorizations, and referrals.Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.Must be available to work rotating Saturday shifts as scheduled.Work Environment :
Neurology outpatient clinic in the DFW area.Must be able to walk, stand, lift, and bend for extended periods.Exposure to clinical environments requires PPE and infection control protocols.Equal Opportunity Statement :
