The GLOW YMCA is seeking an outgoing Aquatics Lead to provide leadership, instruction and motivation for aquatics staff and programming. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director the Aquatics Lead is responsible for integrating YMCA of the USA aquatics best practices by striving to enhance aquatics safety, and aquatics programs for YMCA members and the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong commitment and knowledge of Aquatics.
- Previous supervisory and / or management experience preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, and weekend. Required to be On-Call with predetermined schedule.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Excellent organizational and staff management skills.
- Ability to educate and motivate staff, volunteers and community about YMCA mission.
- Knowledge of aquatic safety principles, rescue techniques, lifeguarding and pool maintenance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Positively models and reinforces YMCA's core values, mission statement, and relationship-building skills in all interactions.Supports aquatics department to establish new program activities and expansion within the community in accordance with branch and association strategic plan.Adheres to all GLOW YMCA policies and procedures.Provides shift supervision while working up to 50% of time in direct service.Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a full range of aquatic programs and services.Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress. Reviews and evaluates staff performance, job descriptions, and wage schedules. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals, while ensuring continuing education (when applicable). Provides staff with feedback, coaching, guidance and support.Assists in developing, implementing, and managing operating plans to promote program growth. Manages, directs, and coordinates programs.Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, while adhering to deadlines. Ensures YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed while making revisions for department policies, plans, and procedures.Cultivates relationships to support fundraising.SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Ensures all GLOW YMCA program standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.Ensures all aquatics staff are properly trained and prepared for emergency situations. This includes implementing and following training requirements in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents / accidents according to risk management procedures.Maintains proper records, including associate certifications, meetings, and trainingsSchedules staff and volunteers in accordance to safety and program needs and ensures all safety and program ratios are followed.Perform all other duties as assigned.REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid Certifications required. A candidate must be willing to acquire this certification within 30 days of hire, if not already certified.American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification required. A candidate must be willing to acquire this certification within 60 days of hire, if not already certified.Must become a certified Lifeguard instructor within 120 days of employment.Must have or obtain YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor.CAUSE-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
