Intensive Care Unit(ICU) Registered Nurse (RN)
The ICU RN is a highly skilled and compassionate nursingprofessional responsible for delivering critical care to patients withlife-threatening conditions. This role requires advanced clinical judgment,rapid decision-making, and the ability to manage complex cases in a high-acuityenvironment. The RN collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, andsupport staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Apply the nursing process to assess, plan,implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients
Perform comprehensive assessments includinghemodynamic monitoring, ventilator settings, and neurological status
Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond toarrhythmias and alarms
Administer high-risk medications, vasoactivedrips, and advanced IV therapies
Monitor and document patient responses tointerventions and changes in condition
Collaborate with healthcare providers to developand adjust individualized care plans
Prepare patients for complex diagnostic tests,procedures, and surgeries
Provide care for patients requiring mechanicalventilation, invasive lines, and advanced monitoring
Educate patients and families on criticalillness, treatments, and recovery expectations
Maintain accurate and timely documentation inthe electronic health record (EHR)
Adhere to infection control, safety, and qualitystandards
Respond promptly to emergencies such as cardiacarrest, rapid deterioration, or code situations
Support patient advocacy and uphold patientrights and confidentiality
Minimum Requirements
Current Registered Nurse License in the state ofpractice
Minimum one year of professional nursingexperience; ICU experience strongly preferred
Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (ifapplicable)
Current BLS and ACLS certification (PALSpreferred)
Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation andcritical care monitoring
Experience with ventilators, invasive lines, andadvanced life support
TB screening and health clearance (as requiredby contract or regulation)
Compliance with all federal, state, and localregulations
Successful completion of new hire orientationand ICU training
Understanding of patient confidentiality andHIPAA regulations
Strong communication skills and proficiency inEnglish
Basic computer literacy
Must be at least 18 years of age
