Responsibilities

• Coordinate clinical and business paperwork prior to surgery so patients are clinically and financially prepared for surgery.
• Understand the process for precertification / preauthorization from insurance companies for surgery and ancillary testing; obtain insurance and demographic information as needed.
• Confirm pre-operative instructions with patients as directed by the physician assistant or physician.
• Work with Operating Room staff to ensure appropriate equipment is available.
• Assist with coordination of operative and post-operative schedules for patients and providers.
• Schedule testing and blood work with providers; forward test results to appropriate providers in a timely manner; fax as needed.
• Coordinate with Access Staff to obtain any required ancillary testing authorizations.
• Follow up on cancellations or no-shows and coordinate with surgical physicians as needed.
• Collaborate with the Peri-Operative department and provide support to the front desk when needed.
• Respond to inquiries from patients, physician offices, and insurance companies; maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintain communication with physicians, mid-level providers, patients, hospitals, and insurance companies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and work with the Practice Manager to ensure safe, professional patient care.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or a related field preferred.

Job Setting / Physical Demands

Salary and Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range : $43,000-$58,000 per year. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans.
