Responsibilities
- Coordinate clinical and business paperwork prior to surgery so patients are clinically and financially prepared for surgery.
- Understand the process for precertification / preauthorization from insurance companies for surgery and ancillary testing; obtain insurance and demographic information as needed.
- Confirm pre-operative instructions with patients as directed by the physician assistant or physician.
- Work with Operating Room staff to ensure appropriate equipment is available.
- Assist with coordination of operative and post-operative schedules for patients and providers.
- Schedule testing and blood work with providers; forward test results to appropriate providers in a timely manner; fax as needed.
- Coordinate with Access Staff to obtain any required ancillary testing authorizations.
- Follow up on cancellations or no-shows and coordinate with surgical physicians as needed.
- Collaborate with the Peri-Operative department and provide support to the front desk when needed.
- Respond to inquiries from patients, physician offices, and insurance companies; maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain communication with physicians, mid-level providers, patients, hospitals, and insurance companies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and work with the Practice Manager to ensure safe, professional patient care.
Qualifications
1 year of experience in a physician group practice; prior registration and authorization knowledge required.Significant knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, practice management software, PowerPoint, and web-based software; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.Experience processing authorizations in a physician practice; working knowledge of managed care basics and experience with managed care and Medicare populations.Excellent communication skills; pleasant speaking voice and professional appearance; ability to interact with staff and patients respectfully.Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferred.Education

Full range of body motion, standing and walking; may require lifting up to 30 pounds.Normal visual acuity and hearing; ability to work under stress and irregular hours.Exposure to bodily fluids and conditions common to a clinical environment.Salary and Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range : $43,000-$58,000 per year. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans.
