Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed adult and pediatric unit, requiring AZ or compact RN licensure and strong skills in both populations.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital setting on a mixed adult and pediatric (MST / PEDIATRICS) unit with 10 bedsPatient population includes adults and pediatrics with surgical, medical, and telemetry needsCommon diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, seizures, dehydration, post-operative, MRSA, C-diff, pneumonia, COPD, and COVIDNurse-to-patient ratios : Pediatrics 1 : 3-4, MST 1 : 512-hour day shifts with every other weekend requiredFloat to adult MST unit and cross-train to birthing unit for mom-baby couplets as neededIf low census, participation in standby rotation is requiredUses Cerner EMR systemRNs are required to read their own telemetry strips for adult MST patientsNavy scrubs are requiredDuties include providing primary care to both pediatric and adult medical-surgical patients, and assisting in the stabilization of pediatric patients for transfer if neededMust be willing to float within designated units based on census and cross-train to other units if requiredOrientation includes hospital and unit-based training tailored to experienceMonitor techs are available for adult MST patients; bedside monitors are used for pediatric patientsHoliday coverage is assigned based on a rotation to ensure fair distributionNurse aides are typically available and manage up to 10 patients; if none are available, RN patient load is adjusted accordinglyNo titration of drips required on this unitRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 3 years of RN experience requiredCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, and PALS requiredExperience working with both pediatric and adult medical-surgical patients is requiredMust take and pass the dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signingAbility to provide care with high flow oxygen and BiPap for adults in stable conditionTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months worked and another peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCannot have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearMust live at least 50 miles from the facilityBenefits
