Description

Under general supervision, performs various tasks related to the maintenance of the City Cemetery, and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics : This is the advanced journey level class in the Maintenance Worker series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the lower class by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, including providing functional supervision / lead duties in operations and activities of the Cemetery workers in the lower class. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to their assigned area of responsibility.

Employment Standards : Knowledge of : Operations, services, and activities of a cemetery maintenance program. Principles of lead supervision and training. Methods and techniques of cemetery maintenance equipment operation. Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations. Basic principles and procedures of record keeping. Operations, services, and activities of the city. Operational characteristics of various cemetery maintenance equipment and tools. Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Ability to : Lead, organize, and review the work of employees. Independently perform the most difficult cemetery maintenance activities. Interpret, explain, and enforce department policies and procedures. Operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner. Perform heavy manual labor. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, laws, and regulations. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Physical Demands : Maintain physical condition necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
