Position Title :

Sr Instructional Content Developer

Description :

The purpose of this position is to develop educationally sound and engaging reference materials and training solutions for Publix retail and support associates, serve as a training and documentation subject matter expert (SME) for Publix and work with instructional designers and business areas to create materials for change management related efforts.

Responsibilities :

designing, developing, maintaining, and producing reference materials, including reference & procedure guides (up to 1500+ pages), job aids, online help files, and electronic sites with digital media (such as reference videos) in accordance with Publix templates, Information Mapping principles, and Change Management standards

for developing and maintaining written and online training materials that motivate associates and instill the knowledge and confidence to execute their responsibilities

for participating in and conducting a training needs analysis (work study analysis) to collect information necessary to design and develop reference and training materials

coordinating with Change Management and other business areas on tasks, feedback, and issues related to project workload and balancing multiple projects at different project phases and varying levels of scope and complexity

project planning, coordinating, and designing educationally sound training solutions that meet both learning and business objectives for simple projects

Potential Annual Pay with Bonus :

75,075 - 112,580

Year End Bonus :

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design, Psychology with an emphasis or concentration in industrial psychology or organizational management, Digital Communication or other Communications degrees, or other analytical area or equivalent work experience

2 years of experience writing professional publications or work, editing the work of others for publication, or developing training materials

2 years working with Microsoft Word or equivalent word processing tool

2 years working with PowerPoint or equivalent presentation software

must be at least 20 years of age and have a valid driver's license

must have and be able to maintain an excellent driving record

ability and willingness to adjust one's style or approach in response to differing circumstances or to work in ambiguous situations

ability to work effectively without close supervision or guidance

Preferred Qualifications :

Master’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Digital Communication or other Communications degrees

5+ years of experience writing professional publications or work, editing the work of others for publication, or developing training materials

5+ years working with intermediate to advanced functions in Word and PowerPoint

1 year working with industry training development software (such as Publisher, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)

1 year project management or coordination experience

experience with web programming languages such as HTML, JavaScript, ActionScript, or CSS languages

experience working with and developing content pages in SharePoint

experience in 3D graphics design or motion graphics

experience in virtual reality, augmented reality, software, or gaming development

experience with programs such as Unity, Maya, Adobe Substance, Blender, and ZBrush

Information Mapping Certification

Instructional Design or Performance Improvement certifications such as

e-Learning Instructional Design or ISD Certificate from ATD or

the Certified Instructional Designer / Developer from Langevin

CPLP

Human Performance Improvement Certificate from ATD

knowledge of adult learning principles

knowledge of instructional systems design

knowledge of Publix structured writing standards, including knowledge of MS Word templates and structured writing principles

knowledge of Publix’s job class system and job class training programs. This could include retail or support depending on the projects or lines of business assigned

knowledge of Publix’s organizational structure (including the business areas Change Management supports) and Publix’s Mission and business strategy

basic skill level in Scripting / programming languages (HTML, Javascript, CSS) and Online help software

basic skill level in Adobe Acrobat Pro, Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, Studio, Replay), Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, Audition), Learning Management System, Canva, Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint, and Publisher
