American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position, requiring 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and a SC or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU), a Beacon Award-winning referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgeriesAverage daily census is 26, serving a blend of cardiac surgical and medical pediatric patients, including congenital heart casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 based on patient acuityProcedures include cardiac surgery, ventricular assist device (VAD) management, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO, CRRT, and complex supportive therapiesWorks three 12-hour rotating shifts, including both days (7 a.m. – 7 : 30 p.m.) and nights (7 p.m. – 7 : 30 a.m.)Required to work four weekend shifts within a four-week schedule and participate in holiday rotationTraveler may float within scope to meet unit needsUses Epic EMR systemCare for critically ill children of any age with cardiac and complex medical needsTeam includes RNs, patient care techs, unit secretaries, and access to respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacistsFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyPre-assignment online modules are required and average 4 hours to completeDress code follows hospital policy; no travel pairs acceptedAll time-off requests must be submitted at application; approval is based on unit needsCandidates may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)This is a Level I trauma center, teaching hospital, and Magnet designated facility\n \n Requirements\n
Active SC or compact / multi-state RN license requiredAt least 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU RN experience requiredPrevious CV and pediatric experience is mandatoryVentricular Assist Device (VAD) experience highly preferredCurrent BLS and PALS certifications from American Heart Association requiredACLS certification from AHA preferredEpic charting experience preferred but not requiredLocals within 60 miles are accepted at a reduced ratePrior permanent staff (including PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning\n Benefits\n
