They are able to diagnose and treat common acute and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide preventive care and health education. NPs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, private practices, and long-term care facilities, and may collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
