Assistant Superintendent - Student Housing - Charlottesville

Our client is a construction management firm recognized for delivering large-scale commercial, residential, and institutional projects-ranging from $50M to $200M+-with a strong focus on quality, safety, and collaboration. Known for a hands-on approach from pre-construction through closeout, the firm has built lasting relationships with developers, architects, and subcontractors. They've recently secured a major student housing project in Charlottesville and are seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support field execution.

The Assistant Superintendent - Student Housing - Charlottesville will be responsible for :

  • Supporting the Lead Superintendent in managing day-to-day on-site construction activities
  • Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure work is performed according to schedule and project specifications
  • Assisting with job site logistics, including deliveries, material staging, and site cleanliness
  • Helping maintain and enforce safety protocols across the site, promoting a culture of safety compliance
  • Monitoring site conditions and reporting issues or delays to the Lead Superintendent and project management team
  • Assisting with quality control checks to ensure installation meets plans and specs
  • Participating in daily site meetings, toolbox talks, and progress updates
  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date daily logs and site reports
  • Supporting junior field staff and trades with coordination and guidance as needed

The Assistant Superintendent - Student Housing - Charlottesville will have :

  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 3 years in an assistant superintendent or similar field leadership role
  • Experience supporting large-scale, ground-up projects-ideally $50M+-in sectors such as student housing, multifamily, hospitality, or institutional buildings
  • Strong understanding of field operations, job site safety, and construction sequencing
  • Ability to assist with coordination of subcontractors, materials, and site logistics
  • Comfortable working under the direction of a Lead Superintendent and supporting day-to-day site activities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate daily logs and assist with quality control
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude
  • Local to Charlottesville, VA or within a reasonable commuting distance (no relocation or travel support available)
