Position Type : PRN (As Needed)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team at  Emerald Nursing & Rehab Brookside, a leading skilled nursing facility. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in our diverse resident population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.

Work Environment :

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Assessment and Evaluation : Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
  • Treatment and Intervention : Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.
  • Adapt treatment techniques to meet the specific needs and goals of each resident.
  • Documentation and Reporting :
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and their families.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork : Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, to provide holistic care.
  • Participate in care planning meetings and contribute to the development of care strategies for residents.
  • Education and Training : Provide education and training to residents, families, and staff on speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
  • Compliance and Standards : Adhere to facility policies, state, and federal regulations, and professional standards of practice. Ensure all practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in NE.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess and interact with residents.
