Claims Adjuster

Job Purpose : Resolves claims by investigating losses; negotiating out-of-court settlements; presenting evidence in legal proceedings.Duties :

• Determines insurance coverage by examining claim forms, policies, and other records; interviewing claimant and witnesses; consulting police and hospital records; inspecting property damage.
• Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Resolves questionable claims by investigating claim; comparing claim information with evidence.
• Settles claims by determining insurance carrier's liability; reaching agreement with claimant according to policy provisions.
• Recommends litigation by analyzing negotiated settlement options; evaluating evidence.
• Presents evidence at legal proceedings by testifying and producing reports and other documents as evidence.
• Maintains insurance product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
