Certifications Required : BLS

'Must have' skills : 1-2 years acute care nursing experience - Are RN's required to titrate drips : Yes following a prescribed nomogram - Common titratable & / or set rate drips : Heparin. Occasionally nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, insulin

Nights 12 hr nights (1900-0730). Every other weekend and holiday.

Beds : 29 - Nurse : Patient Ratios : Days 1 : 4-5, NOCs 1 : 5-6 - Common diagnosis / Types of patients : Ortho Trauma (fractures, Joint replacements), Vascular (fem-pop bypass, cardid endartectomy, heparin drips, many have wound dressing changes) Urology (TURP, TURBT, Continuous bladder irrigation), Neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain), OBGYN Oncology ( TAH / OBS), Acute Medical can also be admitted to the department
