Emplify Health by Gundersen is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Temporary Payroll Specialist to support our payroll operations during an exciting transformation of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. This temporary role plays a vital part in maintaining day-to-day payroll accuracy while a few key team members focus on enhancing workforce experience and key project initiatives. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the preparation, auditing, processing, and disbursement of payroll in a multi-state environment using computerized timekeeping and payroll systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll compliance, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.

What's Available :

  • 1.0 FTE Location : On-site in La Crosse, WI with ability to shift to remote basis after adequate training.
  • Schedule : Monday-Friday Days either 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm or 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm
  • Duration : Temporary role through Spring 2027

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and process payroll accurately and on time across multiple states.
  • Audit timekeeping records and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local payroll laws and guidelines.
  • Manage garnishments and ensure timely reporting to appropriate agencies.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding payroll and timekeeping.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and timekeeping records.
  • Compile and distribute periodic and ad hoc payroll reports.
  • What You'll Need :

  • Associate degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 3-4 years experience processing payroll, accounting, or tax experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and relevant regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
