Position Overview

Motiva is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Contracts Advisor to support the successful delivery of multi-billion-dollar downstream capital projects, a new Aromatics expansion at the Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex, within our Major Capital Projects organization. Initially located in our Downtown Houston office, this role may be co-located at the EPC contractor's project office, serving as Motiva's on-site commercial representative to ensure that contractual, financial, and performance obligations are clearly understood and rigorously managed throughout project execution.

The Senior Contracts Advisor plays a vital role in maintaining alignment between the EPC contractor and Motiva's project leadership teamsupporting contract administration, change management, and claims resolution activities while helping safeguard cost, schedule, and quality outcomes for one of the most strategic investments in Motiva's portfolio.

Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end sourcing process, including strategy development, market analysis, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution to ensure alignment with project objectives and compliance requirements.

Administer EPC contracts in alignment with Motiva's policies, procedures, and project execution strategies.

Support the evaluation, negotiation, and documentation of change orders, variations, and contract amendments to ensure compliance and transparency.

Act as a daily liaison between Motiva and EPC contractor teams, maintaining proactive communication and facilitating resolution of commercial or scope issues.

Support claims management processesreviewing merit, validating entitlement, and assisting with strategy and documentation.

Monitor contract performance metrics, milestones, and deliverables; identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Coordinate with project controls, procurement, engineering, and legal to ensure contractual integrity and alignment with project objectives.

Contribute to contract close-out and lessons-learned activities to strengthen future contracting strategies across MCP.

Experience and Qualifications

Required Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in contract administration, project controls, or procurement within the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting EPC or EPCM contracts on large-scale capital projects ($500MM+).
  • Strong knowledge of commercial terms, change management, and claims processes in an Owner / EPC interface environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills; adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Preferred Education and Experience :

  • PMP (PMI), CCP (AACE), CPCM (NCMA), CCM (WorldCC) or similar advanced contract management training or certification is highly desirable.
