American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with strong PICU experience and DC licensure for a Magnet teaching hospital environment.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool of a Level I Trauma Magnet teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes pediatric critical care patients across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU; may care for patients of any age
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 in PICU / CVPICU, and up to 1 : 3 in NICU
  • Day (7 : 00-19 : 30) and night (19 : 00-7 : 30) shifts are available, 3x12s schedule
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required; block scheduling for weekends may be considered
  • Floating required between PICU, CVPICU, and NICU within scope
  • Charting is done using Cerner EMR
  • Provide high acuity care to pediatric critical care patients, floating as needed across units
  • Orientation includes required pre-start modules (minimum of 20 hours), to be completed before start
  • Scrubs must be child-friendly with any color permitted and no logos
  • Locals are accepted at the same pay rate with no local radius restrictions
  • Only one holiday off is guaranteed per contract; requests must be submitted with time off at application
  • RTO capped at 7 consecutive days; a consecutive week off requires extension of the contract
  • Compliance documentation and module completion must be finalized before start date
  • Previous employees must have a one-year separation before applying as a traveler
  • References may be requested during the onboarding process

  • Active DC RN license required, or proof of pending application (must be active before start)
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required
  • Strong pediatric intensive care unit experience and comfort floating between critical care units required
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • No recent employment with the institution in the last year
  • Photo ID meeting specific requirements required upon offer acceptance
  • Non-smoking candidates only (zero tolerance facility)
