    • Job Overview

    We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Telemetry RN Traveler for a 13-week travel nurse contract at Mercy Medical Center, a Level II facility in Merced, CA. This high-acuity telemetry unit (more PCU / stepdown) requires strong clinical judgment in managing stroke, cardiac, and respiratory patients. Cerner EMR preferred. Travelers float first to Med Surg and may perform primary nursing without aide support. 50-mile radius rule applies.

    Responsibilities

  • Provide high-acuity telemetry care in a 34-bed unit with 1 : 4 ratios, managing post-CVA, r / o CHF, respiratory failure, DM, HTN, post-ops, and some post-cardiac cath patients (travelers not assigned cath / PCI).
  • Read and interpret GE telemetry strips (monitored remotely by techs; monitors on unit).
  • Titrated heparin only; non-titrating drips (e.g., Cardizem); no insulin drips.
  • Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation.
  • Float first to Med Surg as needed.
  • Collaborate with charge nurse (no assignment), 24 / 7 hospitalist, RT, and pharmacy; no IV team.
  • May perform primary nursing without nurse aide (availability varies).

    • Qualifications

    Required :

  • Active California or Compact RN license in good standing.
  • Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, 2 weekends per 4 weeks, and 2 out of 3 major holidays.
  • Cannot have worked perm or per diem at another CommonSpirit facility in the past 12 months.
  • 50-mile radius rule — candidates within 50 miles are not eligible.
  • Scrub color : Navy.

    • Preferred :

  • Cerner EMR experience.

    • Schedule

  • 36 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour day shifts (7 : 00 AM - 7 : 00 PM).
  • 2 weekends every 4 weeks.
  • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
  • No call.
  • Orientation : 2 shifts with Cerner experience; 3 shifts without.
  • Contract length : 13 weeks.
  • Cancellation policy : Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
