Head Start Programs offered by Seattle Public Schools No. 1

Coordinates Head Start programs, designed to help break the cycle of poverty by providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs. The main components of each Head Start program are education, health, parent involvement, and social services. By congressional mandate, at least 10 percent of the children served by the program must have special needs. Services are available at numerous public school locations throughout Seattle. Programs are half-day, four days a week, and full day five days a week. Children attend either a morning, afternoon, or full day program. Home visits during the school year are arranged to meet families' schedules.

Eligibility : Low-income children and special needs children living in the city of Seattle, ages 3 and 4.
