Salary Range : $101,000 - $134,000 annually

As Strategy Director, my objective is :

To lead Simantel’s strategic services function by overseeing the development and delivery of high-quality, insight-driven marketing strategies that align with client business objectives. I will guide and mentor Strategists, ensuring strategies are innovative, integrated, and measurable, while also serving as a strategic advisor to clients and a leader within the agency.

This is a Hybrid or full-time Remote position. It’s a Hybrid role if you live in the Central Illinois area, which requires you to be in the Peoria, IL office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with the option to work from home Monday and Friday.

The outcomes I need to produce for clients are :

  • Deliver holistic, insight-driven strategies that connect business objectives with marketing outcomes.
  • Provide senior-level consultation that elevates client decision-making and planning.
  • Drive innovation and thought leadership across strategy work by identifying trends, technologies, and audience insights that inform approaches.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration across creative, digital, analytics, client services, and production to deliver integrated strategies.
  • Maintain direct responsibility for select clients, serving as a trusted advisor for high-level strategy.

The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are :

  • Lead, mentor, and coach Strategists to grow capabilities, ensure consistency in strategic approaches, and support professional development.
  • Build alignment across agency service lines by facilitating integration of strategy into Simantel’s offerings.
  • Partner with leadership to scope, price, and integrate strategic services into proposals and ongoing work.
  • Drive strategic operations including financial awareness (billings, utilization, efficiency), resourcing, tools, and training to strengthen strategic services.
  • Share learnings, successes, and opportunities for improvement across teams to continuously elevate Simantel’s strategy practice.
  • Stay current on tools and trends around strategy
  • Represent Simantel’s strategic expertise in the marketplace, helping maintain the agency’s competitive edge.
  • To produce these outcomes, I need to :

  • Collaborate with research and analytics to integrate insights into strategies, leveraging data and trends to inform recommendations.
  • Partner with client services leadership to scope and position strategy services effectively.
  • Bridge the connection between strategy and creative, ensuring collaboration, feedback, and alignment.
  • Oversee development of strategy artifacts (personas, journey maps, messaging frameworks, content models, experience designs, measurement plans, etc.) to drive work forward.
  • Work with Resource and Project Management to align resources and staffing with strategic needs.
  • Provide training and guidance on processes, tools, and best practices related to strategy.
  • The skills and abilities I require are :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Strategy, Research, or equivalent field.
  • 10+ years of marketing strategy experience, with proven ability to lead strategy development for complex, multi-channel initiatives.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience guiding strategists or cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and communicating comprehensive marketing strategies, artifacts, and frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills with working knowledge of marketing analytics, KPIs, and financial metrics.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and inspire a team while also maintaining direct client relationships.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with executive-level stakeholders.
  • To produce these outcomes, I have decision-making authority over the following :

  • Final approval of strategic approaches, with client alignment.
  • Prioritization and direction for Strategists’ work.
  • Recommendations on tools, technologies, and process improvements for strategic services.
  • Resource and staffing needs related to strategy.
  • Leading indicators of my success are :

  • Client satisfaction with Simantel’s strategic leadership.
  • Clear, consistent delivery of high-quality strategy artifacts.
  • Growth and development of Strategists reporting to me.
  • Strong alignment across service lines in integrated strategy work.
  • Long-term indicators of my success are :

  • Growth of client accounts due to strategic impact.
  • Increased efficiency and profitability of strategy services.
  • Recognition of Simantel’s strategic expertise internally and externally.
