American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a minimum of 3 years recent ICU experience, including neuro or CV, and active AZ or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Level 1 Trauma ICU within an acute care hospitalUnits include Surgical ICU, Medical Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU with a combined 80 bedsPatient population includes trauma, neuro, medical, cardiac, post-surgical, and specialty proceduresNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 and 1 : 1Required to interpret own telemetry strips using GE monitorsUtilizes EMR Cerner; prior Cerner experience preferredCommon equipment includes Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPAP, and Airvo devices, with 24 / 7 RT and intensivist supportSelf-scheduling with unit needs balancing; day shifts are 12 hoursWeekend requirement is three shifts per four-week scheduleExpected to float to sister facilities or tele units with 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 ratios as neededNo additional call or standby shifts required, but low census floating may occurNavy scrubs requiredKey responsibilities include managing complex ICU patients with critical care needs and titrating vasoactive, sedation, and insulin dripsRNs are the first to float and may be assigned to any ICU or telemetry unit as requiredUnit does not utilize nurse aides except for sitters and a unit secretaryTeam includes 24 / 7 intensivist and RT support with a dedicated charge RN who does not take patientsSkills validation required for trauma, neuro, and specialty care devices during orientationOnly one holiday off may be granted per contract assignmentFirst-time travelers are welcome if they meet experience requirementsTesting on sterile technique for Foley insertion and central line dressing changes required on Day 1Candidates failing clinical or testing requirements twice will be ineligible for future assignments for six months\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of submissionMinimum 3 years of recent ICU RN experience, including either neuro or cardiovascular ICUCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMust pass dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (2 attempts maximum)Pass / fail Sim Lab assessment required on Day 1 of orientationMust interpret own cardiac monitoring stripsExperience titrating multiple drips such as propofol, fentanyl, vasopressors, insulin, and moreTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsCopy of driver's license required for considerationCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility and not have worked for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year\n Benefits\n
