Radiation Safety Analyst

The Radiation Safety Analyst will support the Radiation Safety Officers and the overall radiation safety program for the Varex Imaging Inc. located in Salt Lake City, Utah. They will also perform controls and audits on the head Quarter in Salt Lake City, assist with other support activities in other locations and facilities including Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asian pacific, by performing a variety of procedures, dosimetry and administrative tasks related to radiation safety.

The main areas of support will be dosimetry coordination and employee radiation safety training and tracking. The Radiation Safety Analyst will assign employee radiation dosimeters, track & exchange them at the required intervals, maintain the dosimetry database and perform an assortment of other tasks related to the dosimetry and training programs. The Radiation Safety Analyst will perform also other duties as assigned by the Radiation Safety Officers.

The Radiation Safety Analyst will also assist in compliance with federal, state, international, and local regulations and license condition requirements. They will prepare parcels and send license applications as needed and maintain radiation detection instruments (Electronic Personal Dosimeters (EPDs) and Radiation Survey Instruments). He or she will ensure all EPDs and instruments are calibrated as required, as well as perform Cell Surveys and leakage tests on X-ray chambers.

The Radiation Safety Analyst will be responsible for investigating unusual personal radiation exposures and incidents to determine the cause and recommend corrective action. The Radiation Safety Analyst will provide general office support, attend meetings to represent the Radiation Safety department, update documents and protocols, filing work, copying documents and protocols, mailing, and archiving files.

This position will be based in Salt Lake City to help and support the site RSO and where necessary assist the Americas RSO and International RSO on remote-base.

Experience Level with Business Tools

  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as : E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of related experience
