Position Type : Locum Physician Gastroenterology

Overview

An excellent locum opportunity for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide inpatient coverage in a leading healthcare facility in Lufkin, Texas. This role offers a steady workload, supportive staff, and an ongoing need to fill coverage gaps through .

Practice Highlights

Inpatient-only Gastroenterology practice
Coverage needed for specific dates (listed below)
Required procedures : Endoscopies, Colonoscopies, and ERCP
Anesthesia support available conscious sedation preferred when possible
EMR : Paragon (transitioning to EPIC in late 2026)
Support staff : Experienced endoscopy-trained GI nursing team
Reason for coverage : Permanent GI provider leaving
Average callback : 4 hours per week

Candidate Requirements

Board Certification or Eligibility in Gastroenterology Highly Preferred

Texas State License Required

ERCP capability Required

ACLS Certification Required

Clean malpractice and background Highly Preferred

Availability to cover listed dates Required

Schedule & Coverage

FTE : 1 provider needed

Rounding : Yes approximately up to 10 patients / day

Hospital handles all patient admissions

Emergency credentialing available for clean files ( day timeframe)

Cases include : Abdominal pain, GI bleed, SBO, food bolus, ulceration, gastritis, and carcinoma diagnosis (no treatment)
