Job description

2nd Shift Role - Differential Pay $1.25 per hour

This position is responsible for the mechanical, wiring, and cosmetic inspection of power distribution equipment. Responsible for providing work instruction, technical guidance, and training to new employees in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand moderately complex to complex front elevations, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and schematics.
  • Identify discrepancies between customer requirements and finished product.
  • Perform visual checks of finished product following customer specifications and / or QC report procedures.
  • Determine the cause of errors and establish a game plan to remedy errors to bring the product into conformance.
  • Interact with Engineering regularly to determine appropriate specifications when discrepancies arise.
  • Interact with Assembly operations regarding problems with wiring assembly.
  • Make minor to complex adjustments and modifications to product.
  • Provide training and guidance to new inspectors in the department.
  • Work closely with the supervisor to ensure quality standards and shipment commitments are met.
  • Utilize a wide variety of hand tools, air tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Continuously provide input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups relative to product improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as may be requested to assure the effective and continuous utilization of assets.

Job Conditions

  • Special safety shoes designed for work in a high voltage area are required.
  • Safety glasses are required.
  • Work is performed in a secure industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Noise level is within normal and acceptable standards for the environment.
  • Proper use of various hand tools and cutting tools is required.
  • The incumbent continuously works with high voltage electricity. If proper safety procedures are not followed, severe injury or death may occur.
  • Skills

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to successfully take and pass the appropriate Work Keys assessment.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and other digital platforms.
  • 2-3 years of experience in mechanical and wiring areas.
  • Technical degree in a mechanical or electrical field is desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand front elevations, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and schematics.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gauges, and torque wrenches.
  • Effort

  • Must have excellent natural or corrected vision.
  • Ability to lift up to 26 pounds.
  • Job cannot be performed alternating sitting and standing.
  • Ability to perform continuous repetitive motions with hands and arms.
  • Requires ability to reach overhead, pull, push, and climb a ladder to perform work.
  • Continuously uses a great deal of independent judgment and initiative in inspection.
