Your Role : Middle School History Teacher

As a Middle School History Teacher , you will play a pivotal role in guiding students to become self-directed learners. You will develop their subject mastery while being attuned to the socio-emotional changes that middle school students experience. Your history classes will empower students' voices and cultivate global citizens through :

  • Engaging Instruction : Facilitate student-led discussions, encouraging debate and critical thinking.
  • Curriculum Development : Teach an in-house curriculum that highlights diverse histories, including Indigenous peoples, African Americans, and women.
  • Inclusive Environment : Create a safe space where students feel empowered to express their opinions and perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instruction

  • Facilitate student-led discourse on historical topics, guiding them through open-ended questions and peer debates.
  • Teach students to analyze primary and secondary sources, honing their skills in argumentation and inquiry.
  • Build an inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and heard.
  • 2. Data Analysis

  • Collaborate weekly with your principal and / or instructional coach to analyze student work and assessments.
  • Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.
  • 3. School Culture

  • Foster positive relationships with students and their families to support learning needs.
  • Engage in professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Participate in school-wide meetings to cultivate community and encourage student achievement.
  • Qualifications

  • A commitment to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic growth.
  • A collaborative spirit, eager to work with partners for the benefit of students.
  • A self-directed learner who actively seeks feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Required Experience :
  • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban settings preferred.

  • Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, or related fields.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Certification is not mandatory at hiring but must be pursued if not already certified.

    Compensation

    The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 , determined by factors such as relevant teaching experience and educational qualifications.
