Summary

As a Child Life Specialist, you will plan, develop, and deliver engaging Child Life programming to meet the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise special events for inpatient pediatric areas.
• Collaborate with marketing and public affairs to manage photography, filming, and donor visits.
• Create strategic plans to alleviate fear and anxiety in children facing healthcare environments.
• Prepare patients and families for medical procedures and illness through therapeutic play.
• Assess children's developmental stages and emotional states to tailor support.
• Identify and implement coping strategies to assist families during hospitalization.
• Provide specialized services tailored to individual child needs.
• Consult with healthcare professionals on developmental and behavioral issues impacting care.
• Maintain records of Child Life services provided to patients.
• Oversee budgeting and resource allocation within the Child Life department.
• Offer support to children of patients visiting the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs and perform frequent standing and walking. Tasks may include pushing / pulling patients and performing CPR as necessary.
