Material Coordinator

The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinates and executes freight shipments into and out of the installation using Global Freight Management (GFM), CMOS and Teams for LTLs / TLs. Creates and issues Commercial Bills of Lading (CBLs) to authorized civilian carriers within the DoD transportation system (DTR).
• Executes freight shipments into and out of the installation according to regulations.
• Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of services provided by commercial carriers.
• Maintains and interprets various tenders from commercial carriers and applies discounts for selection of most economical and quality service mode of transportation.
• Ensures they follow required services provided by "Best Value" to the Government based on DoD Transportation Regulatory requirements.
• Reviews all customer requests for accuracy prior to entering CBL data into CMOS, shipping systems.
• Material coordinators consolidate, transport mode and carrier selective routing, documentation, preparation and verification and processing of Government and/or Commercial Bills of Lading.
• Provides technical advice, estimates and assistance on shipping Government freight for Small Package Express shipments and Outbound Freight section.
• Inspects In-bound shipments from notification of consignee for possibility of improper handling by commercial carrier.
• Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Prepares Transportation Control Movement Document IAW FACTS or manually.
• Prepares required reports and maintains statistical data.
• Validate all Transportation Account Codes prior to shipments being entered.
• Works mandatory overtime with material coordinators to ensure rail billing is completed to push trains/linehaul out for deployment / redeployment and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Two years' experience in industrial, commercial or Government organization of freight movement operations. HAZMAT certification is desired.
• Experience in DoD Transportation and Supply computer programs such as Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS), Global Freight Management (GFM), Syncada, FEDEX, UPS, DHL and other DoD Transportation systems are extremely desired. Patience coupled with an exceptional customer service and excellent communication skills desired.
• Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License prior to start date or by 30 days after employment.
• Must be US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC and SECRET clearance.
• Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
