Orthopedic Surgery Hand and Upper Extremity Per Diem Surgeon

Join Virginia Mason Franciscan Health as a fellowship‑trained Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon. You will work alongside two experienced Hand Surgeons, four exceptional Hand PAs, and two Certified Hand Therapists in a well‑established practice focused exclusively on hand and elbow conditions.

We are a tertiary referral center for the Pacific Northwest, offering a high‑volume practice that includes a mix of common hand and elbow cases as well as more complex procedures. Your practice will be shared between our downtown Seattle campus and a regional medical center, with access to an ASC and a procedure room for wide‑awake surgeries. Our team is known for excellent patient care and highly rated surgical outcomes.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive surgical care for adult hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow conditions, including fractures, tendon injuries, Dupuytren’s contracture, peripheral nerve compression, and arthritis.
  • Perform both day‑case and operating theatre procedures, utilizing our wide‑awake surgery capabilities.
  • Participate in post‑operative follow‑up and rehabilitation alongside our multidisciplinary hand therapy staff.
  • Contribute to team meetings, quality initiatives, and patient education efforts.

Job Requirements

  • Board‑eligible or board‑certified Orthopaedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeon (preferably 3–5 years of experience, recent graduates considered).
  • Strong interest in elbow care.
  • Rigorous licensing standards : must obtain a medical license in the State of Washington and a DEA with full prescriptive authority for the relevant practice.

    Team & Setting

    Our Orthopaedic team includes more than 8 surgeons, a plastic surgeon, 3 non‑operative sports physicians, 14 experienced Physician Assistants, and a full range of allied health professionals. The Center for Upper Extremity Surgery offers centralized, comprehensive care by fellowship‑trained specialists across the Puget Sound area.

    Pay Range

    $338.88 per hour
