Senior Manager, R&D

As a Senior Manager, R&D, you'll lead high-impact programs from concept through commercialization, guiding cross-functional teams and partnering with physicians to deliver life-saving solutions. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of neuro intervention while building and mentoring a high-performing team.

This is a hybrid position based in Fremont, CA; candidates must live within commuting distance and be onsite four days per week.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop high-performing R&D teams by executing a robust talent strategy focused on attraction, retention, and engagement.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to solve complex technical and business challenges using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Manage high-complexity projects, including planning, budgeting, and staffing, to meet business goals and timelines.
  • Translate department goals into actionable performance objectives for direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by overseeing design control processes and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Lead Voice of Customer activities and champion customer-centric design practices.
  • Develop and manage cost center budgets and contribute to business unit-level financial planning.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to assess emerging technologies and shape technical strategies.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering / Material Science / Chemistry or applicable technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in R&D or engineering roles.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct people management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial planning at the project or department level.
  • Experience guiding a team through a full medical device product development cycle, including scaleup and launch related activities.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of direct people management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching and developing team members through performance management strategies.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare market and clinical needs.
  • Experience leading Voice of Customer initiatives and applying customer insights to product development.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and strategic concepts to diverse audiences.
  • $168,500 - $286,500 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
