Position Overview

Position Summary

Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso seeks a full-time Science Faculty member with expertise in Biology and / or Chemistry. The position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in both in-person and online formats, promoting student success, and contributing to the development and continuous improvement of the college's science programs. A consistent on-campus presence is required to support instruction, student engagement, and program coordination.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities :

Typical duties will include, but are not limited to :

• Teach a full load (15 credit hours) of Biology and / or Chemistry courses each semester, in both live and online formats.
• Maintain 10 on-campus office hours per week for student support, advising, and mentoring.
• Develop and update curricula, lesson plans, and course materials that align with program outcomes and institutional learning objectives.
• Integrate science concepts and skills across disciplines, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Assess, evaluate, and document student mastery of learning outcomes and competencies.
• Maintain required professional and academic credentials and complete Quality Matters (QM) training; ensure online courses meet QM standards and guidelines.
• Participate in program and institutional assessment activities, including the collection and analysis of student learning data for improvement planning.
• Oversee laboratory preparation and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with college safety policies and emergency protocols.
• Use required instructional and administrative tools, including DropGuard, learning management systems, and college reporting platforms, to support retention, grade entry, and course documentation.
• Participate in department and campus meetings, committee work, and institutional initiatives.
• Engage in student recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the college.

Physical Demand and Working Conditions :

Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines . Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires e xerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and / or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
