Kalamata Capital Group is an innovative financial technology company that offers funding to small businesses. We are looking for an experienced and highly-skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to building new web applications.


Summary


The ideal candidate will be a backend expert with deep knowledge of the Node.js ecosystem, writing robust and scalable code using TypeScript, and managing high-performance NoSQL databases, specifically MongoDB. This role requires technical leadership, mentoring abilities, and a strong commitment to quality and architectural excellence.


Key Responsibilities


● Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable, and high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
● Database Management: Architect and optimize data models in MongoDB, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity for large-scale applications.
● Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, modular, testable, and reusable code. Drive code review processes, enforce coding standards, and implement effective unit and integration tests.
● System Architecture: Contribute to architectural decisions, including the design of microservices and event-driven systems, focusing on application scalability and resilience.
● Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, onshore/offshore developers, and other cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
● Troubleshooting: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues and production incidents.
● Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.


Required Skills & Qualifications


● Experience: 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 5+ years focused on backend development with Node.js.
● Core Technologies: Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
● Database Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, including schema design, aggregation pipelines, performance tuning, indexing, and management (e.g., using Mongoose or similar ORMs/drivers).
● API Development: Proven experience designing and implementing highly available and secure RESTful APIs.
● Tools & Systems: Proficiency with version control (Git) and building modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions). Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) are a plus.
● Cloud Platform: Experience deploying and operating services on major cloud platforms (AWS).
● Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to thrive in an Agile/Scrum environment.



Preferred (Bonus) Skills


● Experience in a full-stack capacity with a modern front-end framework (React, Angular, or Vue.js).
