Summary
Lead a high-performing engineering team delivering manufacturable designs on time and within budget. This role blends strategy and hands-on leadership—setting department standards, coordinating CNC programming priorities, driving continuous improvement, and translating customer needs into scalable, high-quality products.
Responsibilities
- Own the engineering portfolio—projects, people, and processes—ensuring clear procedures, work instructions, and QMS compliance.
- Plan departmental objectives and performance standards; track execution to meet schedule and budget targets.
- Deliver accurate digital data (BOMs, manufacturing drawings, ECOs) and maintain data integrity within ERP (e.g., Epicor).
- Coordinate closely with Production and shop-floor leads to align CNC programming resources and priorities.
- Implement structured job reviews and CIP initiatives to elevate machining efficiency and quality.
- Champion customer-centric product development from sales / client input through manufacturable design.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering talent; provide technical guidance and hands-on project support.
- Maintain meticulous records via ERP and standard work systems.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to support technical leadership.
- Promote Good Machining Practices (GMP), 5S, and safety-first teamwork.
Qualifications
BSME with 5+ years in engineering (3+ years leading teams); or 10+ years in engineering with 5+ years in management in lieu of degree.Proven leadership and team-building with success managing concurrent projects of varying scope.Strategic thinker who balances innovative risk-taking with disciplined, on-time delivery.Strong relationship-building, change management, problem-solving, and project management skills.Clear, confident communicator with strong documentation practices.Proficient with business software, Microsoft Office, CAD; ERP experience (e.g., Epicor) a plus.Benefits
