Denali Staffing Group is assisting our client in recruiting a Nutrition Services Manager to oversee and lead the district-wide food service program. This is a full-time, contracted position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student health and wellness across the region.

Position Overview :

The Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for ensuring all meals served within the district are healthy, safe, and appealing. This role manages menu planning, food preparation, sanitation, inventory, compliance, budgeting, and staff supervision. The manager plays a key role in supporting student wellness while maintaining strict federal and state nutrition standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee daily operations of the district's food service program.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements, including free / reduced meal certifications and audits.
  • Develop and manage budgets, cost accounting, purchasing, and inventory systems.
  • Plan nutritious, innovative menus and adaptations for students with special dietary needs.
  • Supervise, train, and support food service staff across all schools.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment for safety, sanitation, and operational effectiveness.
  • Promote the nutrition services program through community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in nutrition, culinary arts, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in institutional food service management, menu planning, or inventory control required.
  • 1–2 years of nutrition services or institutional food service experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and computer skills.
  • Accredited Food Safety Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • School Nutrition Association Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within one year).
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and travel frequently, including by small and large commuter planes.
  • Inupiaq speaking preferred.
  • Work Environment :

  • Full-time, 260-day contracted position.
  • Moderate noise level in kitchens and cafeterias.
  • Requires regular standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel required across the district.
