Job purpose
The Safety Specialist is a Project level position administering the EH&S program, and serving as safety advisor, ensuring safety compliance by the project team and all subcontractors working at the site.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assists project team in preconstruction meetings with each subcontractor on the project
- Educates and advises project team on safety guidelines and policies to ensure compliance with all State, Federal, Local regulations and client requirements.
- Supervise, coach, mentor field employees
- Coach project team in effective hazard identification and correction of issues
- Provide safety training to project teams on MW, client and OSHA requirements
- Ensure project teams perform HCSS Safety inspections & TBTs per company policy
- Participate in MW safety committees
- Promotes MW safety initiatives
- Conducts New Employee Orientations
- Conducts pre-employment and post-accident drug and alcohol testing
- Regularly conducts ESH jobsite audits and inspections
- Investigates accidents : injury, equipment damage, GL, auto
Experience / Education
2-4 / plus years of construction safety management experienceOr equivalent combination of education and experienceCHST preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
Sound knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methodsPractical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations and policiesCapable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective actionStrong computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suiteManagement, leadership and interpersonal skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillOther Functions
This position is assigned to the Colorado Office
Some Travel is required in this position between jobs (Mainly in CO / Denver area)Respond to emergency calls after normal hours.Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.Must be able to pass background check for access to airports, railroads, and military bases.Working conditions
Work is performed indoors and / or outdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel and be exposed to inclement weather including cold and heat. Ability to climb a ladder and crawl in small spaces (if required) and / or (bridges).
