Join us as a Television Producer (Part-Time) in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.
THE POSITION
The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is seeking a dynamic and skilled professional to provide audio-visual (AV) services for RPVtv, a City television station that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for recording, editing, and airing City Council and Planning Commission meetings and major events, as well as creating new content that highlights the City’s community and news. This position generally plans, directs, and coordinates the station\'s operations across multiple platforms such as the City’s cable channel, Granicus, and YouTube. The role also requires ensuring the accuracy of information and maintaining the proper functioning of the cable system. If necessary, the role may also supervise interns and volunteers.
This is a part-time, at-will position. Television Producers are typically scheduled to work approximately 10-20 hours per week as defined by the City. The position is required to work a flexible schedule that will include evenings, weekends and holidays. At minimum, this position must be available to record City Council meetings and Planning Commission meetings every Tuesday evening, in addition to Special Meetings, when needed. This work requires AV setup and breakdown, and the general time frame for each City Council and Planning Commission meeting is from 4pm-10pm on average.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a creative and technically proficient media professional with strong communication skills, capable of managing all aspects of video production. They excel at creating high-quality, engaging content that enhances the City’s public outreach and strengthens community engagement.

Knowledge of :

Education and Experience :
Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be :
Completion of a four-year college curriculum with a major in telecommunications or a related field, and three years responsible experience in the production, direction and administration of television operations.
Licenses and Certifications :
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring simple but continuous adjustments, such as computer terminal, photocopier, telephone, etc.
ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS
Ability to work under varying, but generally safe conditions where exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations, noise, wetness and / or dust may cause discomfort but poses little risk of injury.
