Position Title : Unit Manager, Registered Nurse (RN)
Beacon Health Management is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to work at the Pleasantview Nursing Center, providing both short term rehabilitation and long-term care.
Position Summary : Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the incumbent Registered Nurse utilizes a general understanding of the principles of Nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized Nursing Care Plans to ensure that the needs of the customers are met. He / she assists in the orientation of and supervision of Nursing personnel, attends to the daily operations of the unit on a per shift, unit level and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role as needed.
RESPONSIBLITIES :
Takes an active role in direct customer assessment and care
Supervises and coordinates Nursing personnel in providing direct customer care in adherence to State, Federal and Corporate guidelines
Formulates individualized Nursing Care Plans and updates with change in status utilizing the Nursing process
Assesses assigned customers daily and implements a change in the course of action as needed
Assists the Physician on rounds and ensures that pertinent information is communicated to and from him / her and orders are transcribed correctly
Participates in the training and supervision of Nursing personnel
Utilizes effectively the general principles of leadership and supervision
Manages conflict through effective problem-solving and communication skills
Acts calmly and efficiently in handling emergency situations
Prepares daily assignment of duties, treatments, and miscellaneous tasks
Assists with implementation of Center's QI program
Assumes responsibility for the identification of potential safety hazards and for the identification of noncompliance with Corporate guidelines as set forth in the Policy and Procedure Manual
Maintains accurate customer care records and documents pertinent data reflecting the use of the Nursing process
Attends and participates productively in the customer-care meetings, staff meetings and in-services
Maintains active Licensure
Attends all mandated in-services
Takes an active role in teaching (formal or informal presentation) with customers, families and staff
Dispenses medication and performs treatments, in accordance with policies and procedures
Assures that each customer's attending Physician and family or Legal Representative are promptly notified of any significant change in the customer's health condition
Puts Customer Services First : Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL / VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
1. This position requires a current Registered Nurse License issued in the state where the person will practice, and the candidate must be a graduate of an approved school of Nursing.
2. Up-to-date physical assessment skills and comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles are also required.
3. Recent experience in geriatric or rehabilitative Nursing and experience in supervisory capacity are preferred.
