Mercy Fort Smith's Med Surg Service Line is made up of 8 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a "home unit", we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career / educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their every day work, Med Surg is the place for you! 5500 Oncology Overview : This unit serves patients diagnosed with cancer, blood disorders, and diabetes. It also provides care for terminally ill individuals and hospice respite patients. Unit Features : ~All 24 rooms equipped with cardiac telemetry ~ Care Approach : The unit is dedicated to delivering close monitoring, skilled nursing care, and holistic, compassionate services tailored to patients with oncology and endocrinology diagnoses. Nurse-to-patient ratio : 6 : 1 Education Assistance Tuition Reimbursement $2,000 per year Day-One comprehensive medical, dental & vision insurance Employer-Matched Retirement Funds Shift Differentials Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Licensure : Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements. Certification : NOTE : one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position / unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe : Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules Other unit-specific certifications as required.
