Position Information
Job Summary
In this role, the individual will use the Environment Rating Scale (ERS) tools to assist in assessing the quality of regulated early childhood programs. They are expected to achieve and maintain a 90% inter‑rater reliability score on the three ERS tools used by the Office of Child Care : ITERS‑3, ECERS‑3, and FCCERS‑3.
The individual needs to maintain a thorough awareness of Office of Child Care policies and procedures and stay informed about any updates or changes, and must model and lead by example in implementing those policies and procedures.
The role includes providing ongoing reliability testing for ERS tools to observers and coaches as assigned, as well as delivering professional development to both new and current regional observers using effective teaching techniques. The person in this role is responsible for reviewing and finalizing reports submitted by regional observers and coaches.
As needed, the individual will act as a CCQS observer, conducting initial visits, ERS observations, and feedback sessions for early childhood programs. They will support the integration of nationally recognized best practices into technical assistance and written support, as defined by the Utah State Office of Child Care. Additionally, the role may involve functioning as an instructor for Care About Childcare courses.
This job may require occasional evening and weekend work when requested. Regular travel in Northern Utah is required, along with occasional travel to other areas of the state. The individual must have their own reliable transportation.
