Become a vital part of our remarkable OR team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, recognized as the largest hospital in Wisconsin with a dedicated 24 / 7 heart-care team.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time evening shift, with 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, including overnight call (approximately 5-8 slots) and 1-2 weekend call slots every 8 weeks. Call hours may vary based on staffing needs. You're expected to arrive within 30 minutes when on call.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment while employing aseptic surgical techniques.Prepare and organize materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.Ensure each surgical case is set up properly and efficiently, moving equipment as needed.Function as a Second Assistant when required, anticipating surgeons' needs.Assist with equipment and supply troubleshooting and report issues to appropriate staff.Transport patients, equipment, and supplies to ensure smooth operation.Check the completeness and readiness of specialty carts and items.Demonstrate knowledge and skills in patient care appropriate to their age-specific needs.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise specified.Education and Experience :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.No prior experience required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Familiarity with aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal abilities.Basic computer proficiency.Physical Requirements :
Ability to perform in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and 20 lbs. overhead.Push and pull with a force of 30 lbs. and perform sliding transfers of up to 150 lbs. with assistance.Regular exposure to various hazards including mechanical, electrical, and biological.Requires functional sight and hearing, and ability to wear personal protective equipment.Engage in sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, and more throughout the shift.This job description provides a general overview of the expected duties and responsibilities.
