Position Summary :
The Process Engineer plays a key, hands-on role in the daily operation, optimization, and growth of Tedia’s high-purity solvent manufacturing processes. This position bridges production, quality, maintenance, and R&D. They drive operational excellence through process improvement, troubleshooting, and technology scale-up. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in chemical processing with a practical understanding of plant operations.
Essential Duties : Safety & Quality
- Champion Tedia’s Safety Culture by applying Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), and other hazard-reduction best practices.
- Support Tedia’s Quality Culture by following all documented procedures, specifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Process Operations and Optimization
Monitor daily batch and continuous distillation and solvent purification operations to ensure consistent, on-spec production.Lead troubleshooting of process upsets or deviations to minimize downtime and product loss.Analyze and optimize purification steps such as forerun / tail control, reflux ratio, and column performance to improve yield and throughput.Identify and implement projects that remove bottlenecks, improve energy efficiency, or increase capacity.Technical and Analytical Support
Develop and maintain clear process documentation, SOPs, batch records, P&IDs, and trend groupsWork with QC and Analytical teams to interpret GC and purity data, correlating results to process variables and operating conditionsCollaborate with R&D to scale new products and purification technologies from lab to production, ensuring smooth technology transfer.Capital Projects
Manage small-to-medium capital projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and on-spec executionIdentify, scope, and justify capital improvements to support safety, quality, reliability, and capacity goals.Support the Production Manager and Engineering team in long-range capital planning aligned with plant growth objectives.Success Criteria :
Complete process improvement projects delivering annualized savings through efficiency, yield, or utility reductionSuccessfully lead small-to-medium capital projects (typicallyMaintain updated and accurate P&IDs, SOPs, and safety-critical documentsSupervisory Responsibility :
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering3+ Years in an engineering roleStrong mechanical aptitude, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essentialPreferred Education and Experience :
