Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design and development of military and commercial vehicle electrical components and subassemblies of considerable technical magnitude
- Approves releasing engineering designs at prototype, test, development, and production phases of a program
- Creates and releases vehicle electrical schematics for internal and external use
- Determines vehicle and component level test requirements
- May assist in set-up / monitoring of a testing program
- Analyzes, evaluates, and reports test results to determine acceptability or needed modifications in meeting specifications
- Ensures all vehicle issues are identified, resolved, and documented during prototype builds, testing, or product launches
- Maintains contact with vendors and subcontractors to keep abreast of new materials, products, sources, pricing, and lead-time requirements
- Solicits vendor knowledge and participation in product standardization and cost reduction
- Provides information and direction to facilitate building of prototype vehicles
- Revises design package based on feedback from prototype activities
Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering (BSEE)1-4 years' experience in an engineering environmentProduct Engineer with knowledge in electrical systems, wiring, electrical vehicle kits, interior electrical integration, and developmentExperience with Mentor Graphics Capital Harness suite is a plusExperience with SAE J1939 or other CAN networks and familiarity with CAN interface engineer tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, etc.) is a plusInterpretation of requirements, specifications, and standards applicable to vehicles and / or assemblies, including understanding customer requirements, creating component requirements, and understanding supplier interfaces and schematicsProficient computer knowledge and skills- including Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Physical Effort

Physical Location : This position operates between an office and manufacturing plant environment and is often assigned to a specific shift or hours.
