Job descriptionEnsure safety of all guests and staff Facilitate communication between other aquatic staff and the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Act as the Supervisor on Duty when the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director is unavailable Provide coaching, leadership, discipline (when needed), and support to aquatic staff Maintain and complete timely documentation for the facility and any incidents Provide excellent customer service and create a fun environment Enforce all rules, policies, regulations, and guidelines consistently Coordinate pre-season trainings and regular in-services Assist with pre-season facility preparation and post-season closing of the facility Fill in roles as needed (Lifeguard, Head Guard, Maintenance, etc.) Critically think and problem solve as needed Project professional image at all times when representing Collinsville Aqua Park 18 years of age or older Current certifications from StarGuard Elite (Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor) While certification can be gained through the City of Collinsville, employment cannot be provided without certification. Certification must include the ability to pass all in-water skills tests in depths of at least 9 feet. At least 3-5 years of lifeguarding experience In-depth knowledge of lifeguarding best practices, swim lessons, aquatic programs, and pool mechanics and maintenance with ability to teach these necessary skills to subordinate staff or ability to learn these practices Flexible scheduling that accommodates early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to work effectively with supervisors, staff, and guests Ability to act quickly, competently, and effectively during emergencies Ability to walk, run, stand, sit and complete a variety of motor skills Ability to walk and / or stand on concrete for the majority of your shift Ability to bend to the floor and reach overhead Ability to lift and carry 30-70 pounds regularly to chest height Ability to hear and see wel l Ability to demonstrate exceptional punctuality and attendance Ability to project a positive attitude, manner, and appearance Ability to think clearly and respond appropriately in an emergency Ability to demonstrate mature judgment and ethical behavior Ability to read, write and perform mathematical equations Ability to work with limited supervision Ability to multitask Ability to use knowledge; critical thinking skills; judgment and problem-solving skills to handle situations Ability to resolve conflict fairly, safely, and in a timely manner Ability to work staggered shift assignments as necessary including evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to work in hot, cold, wet and / or other unpleasant outdoor conditions Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced environment
LIFEGUARD MANAGER
- The Lifeguard Manager position is Seasonal
(Mid-April through Mid-September with hiring and training beginning as early as November)
Lifeguard Managers are expected to run the daily operations of the waterpark, which include but are not limited to, the scheduling and supervising of all aquatic staff, pool and facility maintenance, and emergency management. Lifeguard Managers enforce the safety of patrons and staff.
Lifeguard Managers oversee the organization, promotion, and staffing of events, programs, and rentals at Collinsville Aqua Park. Additionally, Lifeguard Managers are responsible for the training of staff and opening / closing of the park (daily and seasonally).
Essential Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
Preference
Prior experience in the supervision and operation of aquatics programs, swim lessons, pool maintenance, and lifeguards. Previous supervisory or managerial experience. Proficiency in using various computer programs : including Microsoft Programs, Google Suite, and other software programs that may benefit the efficiency of the waterpark.
