Director, Accounting - Financial Reporting

Location : San Antonio, Texas

Compensation : $145k - $166k + Bonus

The Director, Accounting will lead the general ledger operations, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policy. This leader will oversee all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; implement robust controls and reconciliation practices; and drive process improvements across the accounting organization.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the Organization's general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Manage and continuously improve the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial results.

Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate governance standards.

Research accounting issues, assess implications of accounting standards, and develop well-documented conclusions and memos that support the company's accounting treatment and policy decisions.

Prepare and review internal financial statements and reports; ensure alignment between the GL, sub-ledgers, and reporting systems.

Ensure audit readiness and timely completion of audit deliverables.

Collaborate closely with other accounting teams to ensure alignment, accuracy, and consistency across all financial processes and reporting.

Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team focused on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Proven ability to lead multi-entity accounting operations and close processes.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Strategic mindset with operational discipline and attention to detail.

Proficiency with ERP and reporting systems; advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.

Qualifications

Big 4 / 8 or Large Regional Public Accounting / Industry Mix - AEC, construction, or professional services industries preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting + CPA

10+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience, including at least 5 years in leadership.

Multi-Entity, M&A, Consolidations - strongly preferred!
