Aerodynamics Engineer
Aerodynamicists are responsible for the analysis of aircraft modifications using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and classical analysis methods validated by wind tunnel or flight test programs.
Essential Functions
- Calculate flight performance estimates, including range / endurance, drag estimates, take-off and landing performance, etc.
- Loads development, using classical hand analysis methods and CFD, for steady and unsteady distributions, modification airloads, rapid decompression loads and aircraft external loads
- Stability and control analysis
- Support of water tunnel testing, wind tunnel testing and flight testing
- Preparation of analytical reports, test plans, and test reports necessary to document the airworthiness of major aircraft modifications
