Job Description
A growing non-profit organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This individual will be responsible for:
•Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
•Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and fund/account analysis
•Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
•Monitor and analyze financial activity by program, grant, and funding source
•Ensure compliance with GAAP, donor restrictions, grant requirements, and internal accounting policies
•Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including program-level and grant-based budgets
•Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations
•Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including grant billings and donor receivables, as needed
•Support the preparation of tax filings and regulatory reports, including Form 990 and other required compliance documentation
•Develop and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, accuracy, and efficiency
•Mentor and support entry level accounting staff, providing training and guidance
•Collaborate with program managers and cross-functional teams to support financial planning and decision-making
•Other duties as assigned.
