The Department of Neurology is seeking a Chief of Epilepsy to join our team at Tufts Medical Center. The Tufts Comprehensive Epilepsy Center has achieved Level IV accreditation by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. You will be responsible for leading a growing Epilepsy service at Tufts Medical Center and helping to provide the best quality care for patients with epilepsy and other seizure disorders at all levels of complexity, including those who may benefit from neurostimulators and epilepsy surgery. You will also play a role in implementing growth opportunities in alignment with other epilepsy providers across the broader Tufts Medicine Network. Continuous and routine EEG services are provided across the Tufts Medicine network’s hospitals and community practices.

Division of Neurology Overview

Integrated Healthcare : Tufts Medical Center, with over 700 affiliated doctors, is part of the Tufts Medicine Health System, which includes Lowell General Hospital, Lowell Saints Hospital, MelroseWakefield Hospital, Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford, Tufts Medicine Care at Home, Tufts Medicine Community Care, and Tufts Medicine Integrated Network.

Team Driven : The Department of Neurology is comprised of a dynamic group of physicians invested in growing and advancing clinical programs. In conjunction with the Epilepsy Center, the neurology teams include a Neurocritical Care Unit, a Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit, and a Neurology med‑surg unit with trained nurses supporting elective EEG admissions. Other divisions include Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, a Neuromuscular division with a Neurophysiology lab, Movement Disorders, Neuro‑Immunology, Neuro‑Oncology, and Cognitive Neurology, supporting a multidisciplinary Memory Care Center.

Research Based : Neurology research has a proven impact on patient care and outcomes. Our department participates in multiple NIH‑ and industry‑sponsored research projects as well as investigator‑initiated projects to better understand and treat neurological conditions. We have two full‑time clinical research coordinators who assist with IRB, trials, and registry support.

Education : Our faculty are full‑time academic staff members at Tufts University School of Medicine and are involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Nationally Recognized : Our staff is among the nation’s leaders in advancing neurology diagnosis and treatment, with many clinicians consistently recognized as “Best of Boston.”

Responsibilities

  • Transform patient care by providing services on TMC Neurology Boston clinic (Epilepsy, General), TMC General Neurology Service, and TMC Neurology Framingham clinic.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners and trained clinicians to foster advancement in neurological disease management.
  • Leverage longstanding collaboration with the Epilepsy and Neurosurgery departments to expand surgical and medical options for patients.
  • Lead program development for inpatient and outpatient epilepsy services and partner with Tufts Medicine network epilepsy providers to explore broader opportunities.
  • Engage in research, didactics to trainees, develop and modify institutional guidelines and policies, and participate in hospital‑wide committees.

Requirements

  • BC / BE in Neurology and Epilepsy, with the ability to obtain a Massachusetts medical license.
  • Extensive surgical epilepsy experience and the ability / desire to collaborate closely with Neurosurgery.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership at an academic institution.
  • Work shift : Full‑time role

    Compensation

    The salary range for this position is $310,000.00 to $345,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
