Coffee Mixologist (Consultant with potential for ongoing role)

We’re opening a new Afghan-inspired bakery in New York, led by a celebrated pastry chef. As we build out our concept, we’re looking for a Coffee Mixologist to consult on a signature drink menu that pairs beautifully with our unique pastries.
About the Role :
This is a consulting project to help us design a small but thoughtful beverage program featuring coffee and tea drinks including signature lattes, chais, and house made syrups using ingredients that complement our warm Afghan flavor profile. You’ll collaborate directly with our baker to ensure the drinks and pastries tell a cohesive flavor story.
While this is a short-term consulting role, we’re open to bringing the right person on board in a longer term capacity if there’s mutual interest.
Responsibilities :
Develop a drink menu that aligns with our pastry offerings
Create original syrups and infusions (spiced, floral, seasonal, etc.)
Assist in recipe documentation, sourcing, and training support
Advise on workflow and equipment as needed
Who You Are :
Experienced in coffee, tea, or beverage development (barista, mixologist, or café consultant)
Passionate about flavor pairing and thoughtful presentation
Comfortable working with spices and nontraditional ingredients
Reliable, collaborative, and detail-oriented
Familiarity with Afghan or regional flavors is a plus, but not required
Compensation :
Freelance / consultant rate based on scope and experience. We’re open to your rate — we care most about finding the right creative fit and are happy to discuss terms that work for you.
