Conduct emergency department psychiatric assessments and coordinate with on-call psychiatrist and emergency department physician to determine appropriate level of care. Obtain insurance authorization for inpatient psychiatric admissions. Arrange for transfers and discharges as necessary. Responsible to facilitate and accept admissions from other hospitals to the inpatient adult and adolescent psychiatric units. Provide crisis intervention to patients, family members and caregivers. Work as a member of cohesive multidisciplinary treatment team in order to meet the needs of the patients and their family/significant others. Complete Audit C- Alcohol Screening Questionnaire, Audit C Addition questions and Audit C follow up as part of the emergency department psychiatric assessment.
Master of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work required. Licensed Social Worker in NYS as either a LMSW (required) or LCSW (Preferred). ED Psychiatric Experience preferred.
