• RETENTION BONUS : $5,000.00\n\nSummary : \n\nThe oncology nurse practices at a high level of autonomy and accountability in collaboration with oncologists and the inter-professional Health-care team to provide a continuum of patient care from prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, palliation, bereavement and survivorship. Responsible for providing professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assist physicians and staff in coordinating patient care.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : \n
• Assists supervising physician with patient visit in exam area, including physical assessment and health history. Coordinates care with infusion staff, other facilities, and Home Health / Hospice Coordinator.\n
• Provides specialized oncology nursing care to patients. Provides back-up support for administration of prescribed medications, chemotherapy and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and practice policies and physician orders. Direct chemotherapy administration support is provided during times of critical staffing need or workload restructure.\n
• Observes, documents and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.\n
• Educates patient / family about diagnostic procedures, medications, side effect management, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.\n
• Maintains / reviews accurate patient records, charts and other pertinent information.\n
• Responds to / refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.\n
• Maintains patient confidentiality.\n\nEDUCATION : RN degree, BSN preferred.\n\nLICENSE : Alabama State Board of Nursing\n\nEXPERIENCE : Minimum of 2 years nursing experience with one year of oncology preferred\n\nWORK LOCATION : In person\n\nJob Type : Full-time\n\nPay : $32.00 - $35.00 per hour\n\nBenefits : \n
