Truck Driver
Simon, a subsidiary of Colas USA, is seeking a truck driver for seasonal work. The company specializes in aggregate, asphalt, and ready-mix concrete materials production, providing high-quality construction services. The position may require occasional travel with overnight stays away from home. This role can be located in Sidney, NE or Scottsbluff, NE depending on the location of the candidate.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities.
- Support and practice the company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
- Perform detailed pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle.
- Document and report any required maintenance or repairs to the maintenance team.
- Adhere to procedures for safe vehicle operation, including securing cargo and positioning blocks as needed.
- Ensure the vehicle remains clean, maintaining both the exterior and the operator's cab.
- Operate a variety of vehicles and vehicle / trailer combinations vital for construction operations.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials in the truck / trailer bed, which may require operating heavy equipment such as skid steers or loaders.
- Prepare bills of lading and other vital documentation for transported loads.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to job assignments as required by the company.
- Maintain regular communication with the supervisor for pick-up and delivery instructions.
- Maintain driver logs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred. Class A CDL with endorsements and valid medical card required.
Skills
2 or more years of commercial driving experience preferred; construction experience and experience operating various types of vehicles / combinations highly preferred.Ability to operate commercial vehicles, including but not limited to belly dumps, side dumps, end dumps, water trucks, etc.Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements.Ability to establish professional relationships with internal and external customers and other team members.Ability to read and write, and understand English.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
