The Control Systems Sr Eng role includes assisting in providing strategic project-level leadership for computer hardware architecture, application software development, scanning, dimensioning, and weighing technology, network design, and security for FedEx'ss material handling and automated sort systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing new systems, supporting legacy systems, and providing support to maintenance and other operational groups
- Understanding project-level system architecture and software strategy
- Conducting job site inspections to ensure contractor compliance with standards, specifications, and plans
- Assisting project management in planning and scheduling
- Collaborates with other key SCSE departmental employees to ensure technical support for all of FedEx's computerized material handling control systems
- Provide technical support for projects to operational workgroups, review project bids and change orders, and maintain communication and coordinate design within sort control software and engineering workgroups
- Responsible for developing, conducting, and documenting research and development projects to improve productivity and increase dimensioned and weight revenue from material handling systems
- Monitoring and controlling various aspects of projects, including outsourced software development, material handling computer control systems, fabrication, and installation
- Maintaining current competency with technical support and problem resolution of all hardware and software associated with the computer control systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education : Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.Minimum Experience : Five (5) years of experience in designing and implementing integrated control systems for complex material handling and automatic sortation systems.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities : Proficiency in industrial and process control system software programming languages, network cybersecurity, software engineering, and system administration practices. Knowledgeable in proper searching methodologies to troubleshoot problems using internet resources, technical publications, and vendor-provided information.Job Conditions : Some travel required.Benefits and Compliance
